Investment Markets Overview – w/e 15 March 2013

Manpower Group, the world’s largest job placement agency, announced their Q213 survey this week, which measures hiring confidence among over 65,000 employers in 42 countries and territories. The survey is one of the most trusted forecasts of labour market activity in the world and has been running for more than 50 years. Employers in 32 of the 42 countries and territories surveyed expect to add to their workforces in the second quarter, compared to 29 countries and territories in the first quarter, albeit that hiring is weaker than a year ago. Brazil, Taiwan and Turkey lead the way on hiring intentions, with Euro-land being the weakest. Hiring intentions in the U.S. remain relatively stable, although employers remain cautious, troubled by the current global economic environment, where the only certainty is uncertainty
