Investment Markets Overview – W/E 30th May 2014

The great and the good met up in London this week at the, “Inclusive Capitalism Conference,” a fancy term for another catchy phrase called, “Corporate Social Responsibility.” Sponsored by the City of London Corporation, the idea is that those with the power and the means have a responsibility to help make society stronger and more inclusive for those who don’t. In theory this sounds like a good idea, as does the concept of fairness and integrity of the system, but it’s a bit rich when preached by the likes of the IMF’s Ms Legarde, Mark Carney and other Central bankers’, not to mention the legion of senior regulatory figures and key policy-makers, who have driven a coach and horses through the principals of capitalism and the free-market, by their interventionist and society dividing initiatives, particularly since the onset of the financial crisis.
